The World Green Building Council earlier this month released this report. The Worplace Productivity and Health and Operating Costs statements reported are directly in line with CETEC observations from our 30 recent pre and post occupanct Work Environment Productivity Assessments (WEPAs) and 25 years of Indoor Environment assessments of buildings.

Asbestos and Storm Damage
With a tornado last week in North Eastern Victoria and mini tornadoes last month in Sydney, plus extensive seasonal storms and flooding in NSW and QLD, it is a timely reminder that at any stage you can unexpectedly need to assess for the risk of hazardous materials on your site, including identification of asbestos.
We recommned three actions to take following a disaster or storm event. Restrict access, act quickly and properly document assessment findings and actions. Learn more.
Dampness in Buildings
The National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety (NIOSH), America's Peak Occupational Health and Safety Body (operating as part of the CDC) recently released an alert on Preventing Occupational Respiratory Disease from Exposures Caused by Dampness in Office Buildings, Schools, and Other Nonindustrial Buildings.

Green Cities in Tweets
Green Cities, the annual conference for the Green Building Council of Australia has come and gone for another year, with many describing it as another successful event.
As a member of the GBCA, CETEC has always taken a particular interest in the conference and has presented on a number of occasions. This year, CETEC’s Marketing and Relationship Manager, Jack Noonan attended the event at Sydney’s Convention centre and tweeted throughout the conference regarding important points raised by speakers and the innovative thinking that took place. CETEC will be speaking at FMA's Ideaction 2013 in Hobart on 26-29 May on the topic of Energy and IEQ Cost Savings arising from Office Building Sustainability Upgrades.
